Ohlone Trail to Rose Peak
Saturday, May 21, 2016
Please be ready to start walking by 7:30 AM. The gate opens at 6:00 AM.
There is a $6.00 fee per vehicle for entrance to Del Valle.
You must also purchase an Ohlone Regional Wilderness Trail Permit at the gate for for $2.00. Permits include a map, and are good for a year. Rangers occasionally check to see that each member of a party has their permit.
We will build some endurance on this one -- twenty miles round trip to Rose Peak, with some steep spots (my favorite trail section name: Big Burn). Thus the early start time.
Meeting Point, Parking
After entering the park, continue on Del Valle Road across the bridge then turn right. That will take you into the parking lot for Lichen Park. Go all the way to the end of the lot.
Del Valle Regional Park
How To Get There
Del Valle Regional Park is located on Del Valle Road off Mines Road south of Livermore. Exit I-580 eastbound or westbound in Livermore at North Livermore Avenue. Head south and proceed through town (North Livermore Avenue will become South Livermore Avenue in town). About 1.5 miles outside town, turn right at Mines Road, go about 3.5 miles and continue straight on Del Valle Road (Mines Road turns left). The park entrance is about four miles ahead.
